Handwriting on the wall?
Enterprise, excuse me, Star Trek: Enterprise, might not be back on UPN's schedule this fall. Then again, it might back on the schedule afterall, just in the Friday Night of Time Slot of Death.

Forget Spare Time
Why didn't we come up with something like this while at Ole Miss?

Would this be Atkins approved?
I wonder, would putting containers of pig fat on buses in Isreal to prevent suicide bombings work if the suicide bombers were on the Atkins diet?

From Mac to Big Mac
Yao Ming is now going to do commercials for McDonald's. I'm sure there's a witty observation that can be made about this, but for the life of me, I can't think of one right off. Must be Friday the 13th kicking in.

What a shame
Apparantly, someone left the Windows open and now people are worrying about all the bugs getting in.

I feel sooooooooo bad about it all.

New Voyages report
I've encountered a problem with the Star Trek: New Voyages video. I was able to watch the teaser and part of the first act, but, there was apparantly a problem with the downloads on the other acts cause they ain't working. They won't even unzip, so I'm going to try again tomorrow.

For the most part, it looks pretty good so far. SFX are better than Exeter, and the image quality is a little better. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get the rest of it.

This ought to work well
The CIA has apparantly posted a request on its website asking for information on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I'm hoping if this continues, they will start placing classified ads in newspapers across the county or maybe checking out yard sales and junk stores. Maybe they can combine their serch for information on weapons of mass destruction with O.J.'s search for the real killer.

The Darkside is powerful
Should Robin Williams continue to play dark roles like he did in Insomnia and One Hour Photo (both really great movies), or should he go back to bringing us blockbuster comedies such as Toys, Popeye, and Jumanji.

BTW, The Final Cut sound like it might be pretty good.

Well, that settles it then
It appears Jude Law has decided that Sean Penn deserves the Oscar this year for best actor. I guess they should just cancel the whole thing now, cause if Sean Penn doesn't get it, he'll probably punch somebody. Personally, I would like to see Johnny Depp get the nod for the Oscar, and it's not just because he's the only one nominated whose movie I actually have seen.

Ok, maybe that is the reason.

Great movie, disappointing DVD
In my effort to expand my Deborah Foreman movie collection to two, I recently purchased My Chauffeur, which IMHO has some of the best comedic movie lines from the 80s. Foreman and Sam "Flash Gordon" Jones play well off each other. Penn and Teller are great and the movie is a lot of fun. The DVD, however, sucks. First of all, it's full frame only and the picture quality is poor and rather dark. There are almost no extras and the sound quality is seriously lacking. I don't expect a high-dollar special edition release of a 80s B-movie comedy, but I hope at some point, some one will put a little bit of effort into some of these DVDs.

iMac: Mark III?
There are rumors that Apple may be pondering an iMac refit to boost lagging sales. I personally would like to see the next iMac to come standard with Airport, a wireless mouse and keyboard, a cloaking device, weigh less than a pound and be controlled with mental power alone (which I guess would make the keyboard and mouse unnecessary.)

A choice or genitic imperative?
Refering to a basic human behavior as a lifestyle is, in my opinion, nothing more than a way by those who don't agree with this way of life to belittle and marginalize those who live this way. Some people will argue that it's a choice, but it's not, these people are this way because of genetic predisposition - and possibly Borg implants.

A bad Apple?
Apple is apparantly facing five different class action lawsuits over the iPod battery. I've had my iPod about a year and a half and so far, I haven't had any battery problems, but I don't run it off the battery much, I use the AC or car adaptor. But, even if the battery does eventually play out, I'll be pissed, but, after all, it is a battery and batteries don't last forever. What Apple needs to do is re-engineer the iPod just a bit to have a consumer-replaceable battery that they can then sell for an arm and a leg at the Apple store. That way, everyone will be equally unhappy. (iPods still rule, however.)

Bart goes Big Time
Could a Simpsons movie finally become a reality? More to the point, should a Simpsons movie become a reality. On one hand you've got South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut as an example of a successful movie coming from a current running animated series. On the other hand, there was Bevis and Butthead Do America. Granted, I didn't expect a whole lot from a Bevis and Butthead movie, but I was still disappointed. I do hope The Family Guy movie makes it. Maybe that would open the door for more cancelled animated TV show movies - The Tick - the movie, Dilbert - the movie, The Critic - the movie, and for Lane and David - Darkwing Duck - The Motion Picture (that sounds more impressive than just the movie).

Galactica News
More Moore on Battlestar Galactica.

Gender bender?
Boy, if people got pissed off because of a female Starbuck, can you imagine the reaction to this?

Battlestar Greenlighgt
The Sci-Fi Channel has given the go-ahead for a 13 episode run for Battlestar Galactica. I thought the mini-series was great and I hope Ronald Moore can continue into a really good, dark and dramatic series. It would be great if he brought some of the dark weirdness that was Carnivale into the series.
